    “Reliance” — an extraordinary bronze by J. Todd Pa “Reliance” — an extraordinary bronze by J. Todd Paxton 🤍 “We all have those that we rely upon. Supporting one another strengthens us all. This sculpture depicts a Crow woman who strengthens her husband by supporting him, taking care of life’s many necessities, giving him love and care while he is home, while she relies on her husband for hunting and protection. For a Crow warrior, his shield is very important. It relates to spiritual protection and so is the most valuable thing that he takes into battle. That protection would be compromised if anyone other than his wife were to touch his shield. That she is the only one trusted and seen to not adversely affect his spiritual protection speaks volumes to the close team that a husband and wife make. Here this Crow woman holds her husband’s shield out for him as he leaves for battle, signifying the support that she gives to him. He relies on her. She will worry for him as he is gone but is confident that he will give his all to protect her and their home. She relies on him. And so I have entitled this sculpture ‘Reliance.’” — J.
