Kaytha Coker Potts has studied, taught, and worked professionally in the performing and visual arts for over 30-years. She spent her early years on the Front Range of Colorado (where she fell in love with the mountains), her teen years in Washington, D.C. (where she developed an appreciation for the arts), and was classically trained at Houston Christian University (where the heat and humidity reminded her she is a mountain girl!). Kaytha’s work, which is inspired by the traditional “yarn paintingsā of the Huichol people, often incorporates pencil, ink, paint, fabric and, of course, yarn. Her paintings feature bright colors and bold texture, most often depicting Western wildlife and landscapes.
Kaytha lives in Montrose, CO with her husband and daughter where she hikes, rescues and re-homes cats and is inspired by the beauty of the Western Slope.
